Day #51: Give a Hygiene Kit

Day #51: Give a Hygiene Kit 1

Our oldest daughter and I went to Target today to buy items to make a hygiene kit. We plan to give the little kit to a homeless person next time we are on-the-road.

Sometimes it is difficult to know if giving money is helpful in the long run. When possible, we like to give edible things or hygiene items as an alternative to cash.

My daughter and I went to the travel section to find what we needed.

Here is what our kit consists of:

  • a toothbrush
  • a tube of toothpaste
  • granola bars
  • fruit snacks
  • a tube of lotion
  • a Ziploc bag

A reader suggested we make hygiene kits. It is a great idea! Have you ever tried it?

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.

Our Pledge

We hereby pledge:

- To spend intimate, quantity time with our family.
- To actively help the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the helpless.
- To value, protect, and advocate for children.
- To de-emphasize the importance of “stuff” in our lives.
- To bring publicity to good causes and good people.
- To live with intentionality, as if this year was our very last.
- To observe the needs in our country/community – and then do something about them.
- To give – every day.
