Day #40: Give Bagels and Cream Cheese

Day #40: Give Bagels and Cream Cheese 1

We spent the past two nights in Tallahassee in the parking lot of Genesis Church. While there, we met a handful of men and women (including teens) who are excited about caring for people and loving God.

This morning I drove over to Brueggers Bagels and picked up an assortment of bagels and cream cheese for the staff to show our gratitude.

If you live in Tallahassee, you may want to check out Genesis Church's newest campus (starting March 27th). It is going to meet in a bar!

Tonight, we arrived in Orlando, FL. We've covered a lot of miles this past month and are looking forward to staying here for the next couple of weeks.

Do you live in Orlando? Let us know if you and your family would like to join us for a volunteer project!

  1. When I first heard about what you and Stephanie were doing I thought it was awesome and a great idea but I did not really think about what you were doing and what you were giving up. This weekend my family headed down to Santa Fe and we stayed at the KOA campground for two days and I though about you guys quite a bit. We were camping out in one of their cabins but we had no running water, bathroom or kitchen. I pictured you guys with no real routine, always changing your routine, mixing things up and your kids. You are giving up so much and I could not image doing what you are doing for a whole year. You are giving up seeing your family and friends, your church, and everyday normal things. I am very excited to follow your blog.

  2. In Portland we went to church with a friend...they met on Sunday mornings at the Lucky Lab Brewery. At first we were a little unsure about what to expect but it turned out to be awesome. They met before the pub opened (obviously) and they set up every week for the worship team, rearranged tables and chairs and provided fresh coffee (of course, It was Portland) in real mugs. As the worship service was going on, the pub staff was getting ready to open for lunch, not taking part in the service, but they were there! And then when church was over, and everything was back in place, we could just step up to the counter and order lunch. Fantastic! Check out Evergreen Community in Portland.

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.
