Day #144: Give with The Clinic in Phoenixville, PA

Day #144: Give with The Clinic in Phoenixville, PA 1

Today, the four of us visited a medical facility that provides "quality health care to the uninsured." It looked just like any other doctor's office, but one thing was different - it is free!

Day #144: Give with The Clinic in Phoenixville, PA 2

The Clinic was founded in 2002 with a goal to provide necessary medical treatment to people that do not have health insurance. Patients are asked to pay "what they can afford." Sometime that means they pay nothing. Last year the clinic saw over 10,000 patients. About 59 million Americans are without health insurance.

Volunteer medical staff provide specialty services which include: ophthalmology, urology, gynecology, physical therapy, psychology, pediatrics, and dermatology.

We were happy too see an organization serving the needs in their community with volunteers who have unique professional skills.

Do you know any other medical clinics that offer free care?

  1. This is awesome and inspiring. Healthcare is such a huge issue in many places, and ironically here in the US. I'm so glad to see that places like The Clinic are providing such invaluable services. I'm adding it to my charity list now.

  2. I'm thankful for the insurance we have - I remember how hard it was to pay for basic medical expenses when I didn't have insurance. I'm thankful to see these professionals helping out like this.

    1. The need is huge. The Clinic reported the population they serve is increasingly middle class. Since the economy has tanked more and more people are losing full-time benefits like health insurance.

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.

Our Pledge

We hereby pledge:

- To spend intimate, quantity time with our family.
- To actively help the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the helpless.
- To value, protect, and advocate for children.
- To de-emphasize the importance of “stuff” in our lives.
- To bring publicity to good causes and good people.
- To live with intentionality, as if this year was our very last.
- To observe the needs in our country/community – and then do something about them.
- To give – every day.
