We had the privilege of staying at Jellystone Park Hill Country in Canyon Lake, Texas for the past two weeks...and it was a fun + friendly place for families.

Have you ever been to the Texas hill country? It's stunning and serene - lined with oak trees and shimmering water. As we were driving in to the area, our 4-year-old looked out the window and said, "It's SO beautiful here."

Our favorite pastime at Jellystone Hill Country campground was the giant bouncing pillow. We made several trips there every day. The girls & I also enjoyed splashing around in the indoor heated pool. This summer, they're opening a brand new splash pad (right next to the outdoor swimming pool).

Some of the other activities that that park offers that we didn't try include: a gem mine, a community fire pit, lazer tag, frisbee golf, a sand volleyball court, a basketball hoop, and pedal cars.

Our RV site had a paved walkway, a picnic table, and a BBQ (plus, full-hook-ups). And best of all? We had GREAT neighbors (Hi Dave & Carol and Bill & Merna - we miss you already!).

We also appreciated the hospitality of Larry & Kim, the campground owners. They are pleasant, unpretentious people with four children of their own.

The campground is only an hour from San Antonio, 25 minutes from New Braunfels, a 1/2 mile from the Guadalupe River, and 2 miles from Canyon Lake.

All in all? Jellystone Park Hill Country is a neat place for vacationing, wintering, or a weeklong stay. (If you don't have an RV, you can rent a cabin or lodge).

  1. I loved the video. It looks so professional! I commented over at MM that I enjoy taking this journey along with you via my computer since this is something I may never have the opportunity to do. Thank you for sharing it with us!

  2. That looks so fun!!!!!!!!! I am so jealous of a pool. We are winter-weary here in Wisconsin and have lots of energy to burn!

  3. Looks like an awesome place! You did a wonderful job on the video!! Amazing and very compelling!

  4. I honestly had no idea that places like this existed. I could see how this makes living on the road so much more fun, because you can stop for a few weeks at a place like this and it feels more like a community. Very cool!

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.
