Day #141: Give a Push When Someone Runs Out of Gas

We were coming back from a day in NYC with friends who live in New Jersey and pulled into a gas station for fuel and a restroom break. A man driving a Toyota Camry stalled his car less than a 100 yards from the pumps. He had completely run out of gas. I saw one of […]

Day #140: Give Technical Support

A friend called me this morning with questions about his computer. He recently started using Apple's OSX and wasn't sure how to sync his MP3 player to iTunes or burn his music from his existing music collection. I walked him through each step. Sometimes we forget that skills that seem second nature to us can […]

Two New Sponsors

Last week we added two new sponsors to our RV. ParkGrades.com - "Offers the largest, most accurate directory of city parks in the United States. Before ParkGrades, you might have been able to look at a map and see if any parks were nearby. But you wouldn't know if the park is what you're looking for -- […]

The campground where we are staying has a family center. It is a favorite place for our girls. Inside, there is a section just for kids. It has toys, puzzles, and books specifically for younger children. Today, we picked out some of the girls' books that are no longer on their most-liked list and donated them to […]

Day #138: Give Cans For Recycling

As we drive across America, we get to see many different places. Out of our windows we've passed swamps, mountains, and beaches. Some have been uninviting; others breathtaking. Every so often Kayla will look out her window and shout, "Daddy! Mommy! look! Isn't that beautiful?"  She is right - America is beautiful and we are blessed to […]

Day #137: Give with Philhaven in Lebanon, PA

This afternoon, I went on a tour at a non-profit behavioral healthcare organization that offers a wide range of services for children 3-years-old through senior adults. It was founded in 1952 by a group of Mennonite men who chose public service instead of joining the battlefields of WWII. They discovered how horrible living conditions were for people in psychiatric institutions and they birthed […]

Day #134: Give a Phone Call to Your Parents

I talk to my parents on the phone often. I call them and they call me. They never seem to tire of hearing my voice or wanting to know how our family is. They enjoy talking to me, to Stephanie, and - of course - their grandkids. Today, I called my mom. Like always, she […]

Day #133: Give with Jubilee Ministries in Lebanon, PA

Today, we met with the executive director of Jubilee Ministries in Lebanon and toured their massive 3-story 70,000 sqft used clothing store. I felt like we were visiting a JCPenny's instead of a thrift store. Jubilee re-sells clothing and household items (including large furniture) to support chaplains in prisons in their surrounding county and transitional housing programs […]

Our family made a lengthy drive today to Sparta, NJ to visit the dentist. The tooth canal for one of my front teeth broke on day #13 and I ended up needing a dental implant. Today, the dentist took a mold of my teeth so a permanent implant crown can be made. To add to our […]

Our family spent 2011 traveling the USA in an RV, striving to intentionally "give every day" for the glory of God. We interviewed CEOs of nonprofits and served alongside over 40 organizations and churches.

Our Pledge

We hereby pledge:

- To spend intimate, quantity time with our family.
- To actively help the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the helpless.
- To value, protect, and advocate for children.
- To de-emphasize the importance of “stuff” in our lives.
- To bring publicity to good causes and good people.
- To live with intentionality, as if this year was our very last.
- To observe the needs in our country/community – and then do something about them.
- To give – every day.
